AbD Serotec agrees Swiss partnership

13 October 2009
An international antibody company with a base in Oxfordshire has agreed to collaborate with a Swiss foundation.

AbD Serotec, which is a subsidiary of the German biotechnology firm MorphoSys AG, has disclosed that it will work with the Geneva-based Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics (FIND) to develop treatments for poverty-related diseases.

As part of the agreement, AbD Serotec will be allowed to sell any of the discoveries made during the collaboration in industrialised markets, which will benefit its UK operation based in Kidlington.

Dr Giorgio Roscigno, Chief Executive of FIND, explained that this partnership could help reduce the prevalence of tuberculosis, malaria and sleeping sickness in poor communities.

He said: "We are very excited by … the potential of introducing cutting-edge technologies in high disease burden countries.

"This can only lead to a more rapid impact on disease management in the field."

AbD Serotec has its UK headquarters at Langford Business Park, which provides flexible commercial property space near Oxford city centre.ADNFCR-1584-ID-19407262-ADNFCR
